It's funny how things turn out sometimes. Today started out slowly, or should I say basically in slow motion. I was up in plenty of time but just couldn't seem to get it in gear and get headed to work. Finally I was ready and was going out the door at 6:45. We start at seven, that ought to tell you just how things were going. Just as I was heading out the door though my phone rang. It's my boss asking me to go by the office trailer to pick up his insurance papers and bring them to him. It appears just off the army base we work at he had hit a deer, a big deer. The impact was such that it caused both air bags in his truck to go off. Luckily he was ok although his truck didn't fare so well (see pic's below). I picked him up and we headed off to the job site. The rest of the day went fairly well.
What a turn of events going from wondering how I was going to explain why I was late, to being off to rescue my boss. Yep it's funny how things turn out sometimes.
That's it for now. Later.

Just what could we do with $104 billion dollars? Let's see it could be used to build and/or repair a lot of the roads in this country, or maybe upgrade hospitals and schools. In fact I believe I read somewhere that it is going to cost about that much to rebuild the area hit by hurricane Katrina. To bad that's not what this particular $104 billion dollars I'm speaking of is ear marked for. Instead of being used for the useful things mentioned above this money it was announced this past week will be the cost of the new space program to put a man on the moon again. Now the question I have is why in the hell do we need to spend that much money, if not more, to put men on the moon. I mean what will it accomplish besides being able to say we did it again? That answer is easy, not a damned thig.
Seems to me it's just a giant waste of money that could be used in a much more beneficial way. But then again what else is new, right.
That's it for now. Later.

Oh what a day it was. It started out good took a big turn for the worse before a little luck returned. I guess I really ought to explain huh. Well with the date to turn over the first wing we are remodeling coming up tomorrow everybody was hustling around trying to put the final touches on the job. My day started out rather lame with me taking trash out. I was then given the assignment of going around and taking mirrors off the wall so I could remove the protective film off the stainless steel edges that the people who installed the mirrors forgot to take off. After that I was supposed to then re-hang the mirrors. The first two I did went without incident. But when I went to re-hang the third one it failed to seat properly on the hanger and slipped down and fell. No I didn't end up with seven years of bad luck, the mirror didn't break. Actually my first thought was I ended up worse then that. For the mirror had fallen onto the sink, a porcelain sink, and well yeah cracked it. You know the saying in deep shit, well at that moment I not only felt I was in deep shit but I was in over my head. My feet were like lead and my footsteps were hard and heavy as I headed up the hill to the office to tell my boss that on the day before we hand over this wing I broke a sink. After I told my boss what had happened his reaction surprised me a little, though after thinking about it it really shouldn't have. His response to me was "Hey, shit happens and I shouldn't let it upset me." I've always known I have one of the best bosses to work for and today reinforced that. I mentioned earlier that it went from bad to lucky, here's how. It turns out the plumber just happened to have an extra sink on hand and had the broken one replaced in a little over an hour. Ok so all's well that ends well, right? We'll see. And how was your day?
That's it for now. Later.P.S. No photos tonight, seems my photo hosting site is down at the moment.

Strange Weekend
With the fast pace getting even faster at work I more then welcomed my three day weekend with hopes of kicking back and relaxing. And well I did accomplish that even if it was a strange weekend. Not strange in a bad way, just well.....strange. The strangeness started Friday evening whilst I was cooking supper. I had decided to splurge and bought myself a nice thick KC Strip steak to broil. I put it in the oven and was very careful to not let it cook to long on one side before turning it. After all it's a crime to over-cook and ruin a steak, isn't it? So yeah, I was being careful and when it got to the point I figured it was done imagine my surprise when I opened the broiler and discovered my precious steak ablaze. That's right there it was right there in front of me going up in flames. Talk about char-broil meh. Lucky for me it must have just started for the steak wasn't a total loss, a little blackened here and there but still edible phew. The strange events didn't end there but rather carried over to Saturday morning when I went and got my mail. Most of it was the usual, you know junk. Stuck in the middle was one envelope that was from a local hotel and I figured it was some kind of ad so I opened it figuring it would follow the rest of the mail into the trash can. Again imagine my shock when I pulled out a check for $747 and some change. Wow right. Who the hell would be sending me something like this, talk about a windfall. You know what they if it seems to good to be true, well they're right. Upon closer investigation I discovered that this was a piece of mail put in my PO box by mistake. I know I know damn!! Needless to say I put the check back into the envelope and rushed it back to the post office and informed them of their little blunder.
Ok so Sunday brought back a sense of normalcy. Got restless in the afternoon and took a drive out into the countryside to take some pic's of the rural scenery around here.
Right now it's getting late so I better end this for now and consider getting my ass to bed. I probably won't, get to bed that is, but I really should consider it.
That's it for now. Later.

I woke up this morning to the cold facts that fall and winter will soon be upon us here and this summer will soon just be a memory. I for one am not ready to let go of the nice days in return for the sub-freezing temps that will soon be here. Oh well as they say ya got to take the bad with the good. This past week has been even more hectic then usual. Along with trying to get the project finished we were get the place ready for a visit by bosses boss from the corporate headquarters. His visit was prompted by the person doing the final inspection on our construction. This person has been nit picking us to death and ripping us a new ass, thus creating stress levels that are going through the roof. He has been far to picky and could cause us even more delays in our attempt to finish this job. This is the extent of my worry about this, I am but the low man on the totem pole, this is a matter for those in higher places. Right now I'm just glad the weekend is here and I can relax a little and do one of the things I really like to do taking pictures. Speaking of which I'm off to do that now. Have a great weekend.
That's it for now. Later.

Found this critter climbing up my livingroom wall.

After taking some pictures I evicted it back out into the wild where it belonged.

Finished product out at work.....

on the other hand a work still in progress.

Stumbled onto a rock fest in the park, plopped down on the side of the fountain and enjoyed some excellent tunes.

Poor mans hottub

Holy crap will you at this, two posts in one night. And this coming from the guy who has hardly been able to do two posts in a week.I know I've said this before but there's nothing worse then having to go back to work after four days off. Needless to say it was a long and busy day, made worse with my helper calling in sick. Especially since we got a big shipment of cabinets in today. Oh well that's life, right? As most of you know from my previous posts we were supposed to have this remodel project done August 31st, which was last Wednesday. Well, we do have one out of three wings completed. And to tell you the truth I don't see us finishing for probably another month. One thing is for sure I'm not complaining, I'm not ready to have to start looking for a new job just yet.
I got a chance to resize some pic's tonight, so as promised here are just a few of the pic's I took over the weekend.
That's it for now. Later.

Yesterday I opted not to write the long and drawn out post about how the government handled the crisis, or should I say mishandled it. Normally I don't dwell on politics here however at the urging of Melissa I decided to post it tonight, so here it is. So for those of you who don't care to see postings involving political views stop now and thanks for visiting and feel free to come back.
Government by the people for the people. Remember that phrase, of course you do. It's the one we grew up learning and the one that made our form of government one of the best if not the best on this planet. Now here's what I want you to do. Take that phrase and write it down on a piece of paper, now shred it, open the window and toss it out. Done? Now get another piece of paper and write down this new phrase...Government by the rich for the rich. That's right that's the new slogan under the Bush administration. Don't think so, let's take a look at things. Big tax cuts, who really benefited from them, yep the rich. He (Bush) has squandered the budgetary surplus we had and who is getting anything out of it. Right again, the rich. But Bush really sealed the deal last week when he turned his back on the victims of hurricane Katrina in the gulf coast. And these were common people, people on the lower end of the income scale and people to sick to be able to flee the on coming hurricane. Bush adapted the typical republican response and that is the federal government is not supposed to aid the everyday citizen of this country, that's dependency according to them. Now I'm not going to try and put it all on the hands of the federal government. The state and local governments weren't really prepared for a disaster of this magnitude.
So let's take a look at what happened with a series of questions. Questions most everybody in this country would like to hear the answers to. First off, why is it when a mandatory evacuation was ordered there was no means to insure that every one was indeed evacuated? They had to know there would be people with no transportation with which to leave. They had to know there were people in hospitals who would need special help in order to evacuate. They had to know there would be living at home unable to leave due to medical problems or age.
Why, once it was determined that a cat 4 hurricane was about to strike on early Monday, wasn't there trucks loaded with food, water and medical supplies read to move as soon as the hurricane had moved through.
Why were there many national guardsmen in many states sitting ready to go help but couldn't get the word to move for more then two or three days?
Where is the Federal Emergency Management Agency FEMA, and why is it they are still not set up and ready to act?
Why is it that people willing to help and truck loads of supplies were turned away by FEMA?Why is it that vital aid offered by many nations has not been accepted by our government?
Do I have the answers to these questions? NO. Will they ever be answered, only time will tell. One thing is for sure they need to be answered before this country as we know it falls apart totally. It's time that we the people as well as congress demand that they be answered. Talking about finding answers I heard on the news that Bush has announced that he will head an investigation into as he put it what went right and what went wrong. Well mister president that's easy, what went right, very little and what went wrong well Mr president you and your administration closed your eyes and turned your back on the very people you swore to protect.
I'd like to end this post with a few more questions I myself would like to know the answers to. Mr Bush don't you think that some of that surplus in the treasury you squandered would come in handy right about now?? How in the hell is it that if you can't respond to a hurricane do you think you will be able to respond to a terrorist attack let alone protect us from one?? And lastly and most importantly, when is it we will demand and see those responsible for this debacle held accountable. You know if one president can be brought up on charges for screwing one of the help. Why then can't another president be brought up on charges for the people as a whole?
Somehow, some way I believe it's time we find a way to bring back that old saying of government by the PEOPLE for the PEOPLE.
That's it for now. Later.

The long holiday weekend is winding down and soon it will be back to the fast paced grind known as work. It was really nothing more then a stick around the house and relax kind of weekend. Not that I didn't want to go anywhere but hell who can afford to go anywhere with gas prices being what they are. Although I did manage to take a short drive out by the lake and into the countryside to snap some pic's of the sunset last night. As soon as I get them resized I'll be posting them.Ok so I was going to do what might have turned out to be a long drawn out post about the hurricane and the inept actions of the Bush administration to get help to the victims of this hurricane. I'm sure you've read, seen and heard enough about that already. So I'll just leave you with this.
The water started coming
I said please help
but there was no answer
I just don't understand
The waters in my house
I cried out for help
You said wait, help is on the way....
But when, please hurry, time is running out
I just don't understand
The waters over my head
I raised up my hands
but no one was there to grab it
I just don't understand, really I don't
